Many people might not be aware of the latest update of the very popular messaging app Whatsapp. In case you missed it, this popular messaging app has opened up a privacy-related can of worms by sharing its users’ details with its parent company – Facebook. Although the update is still rolling out so it might not be on your phone yet, but here are a few easy steps to avoid Mark Zuckerberg from knowing more about you.
Pay EXTRA attention to the push notification
Many usually choose to ignore when it comes to terms and conditions, but this time it’s actually quite important. If you simply tap “Agree” you are going to hand your data over to Facebook.
Solution: Tap “Read” to view the Key Updates screen (as shown above) then toggle OFF so that WhatsApp will no longer share your details with Facebook automatically.
What you can do if you missed the Ts and Cs
Even if you already agreed to share you details, it’s not too late as you still have one way to cancel it. But this option would only be available for 30 days after you receive the update notification above.
All you have to do is to simply open WhatsApp, go into Settings -> Account, then uncheck the box saying “Share my account info” as shown below.
Don’t let your personal information expose to Facebook, act now !
