Ringo H.W. Chiu was born in mainland China and raised in Hong Kong and graduated from Chu Hai College of Higher Education, where he earned a B.A. in journalism and mass communication. He also received his 2nd B.A. in special major with emphasis in photojournalism in California State University of Northridge. Ringo Chiu currently lives in Los Angeles and is a professional photographer who works as a chief editorial photographer for the Los Angeles Business Journal. He also works as a freelance photographer for the Los Angeles Times, AP. Xinhua News Agency and Zuma Press. In Hong Kong, he worked for Hong Kong Express, Hong Kong Sing Tao Daily and Evening Post on various major assignments such as Eastern China flooding, Sino-British meetings in Beijing, amnesty for Chinese illegal immigrants in Macau, Hong Kong Handover 1997. Ringo has earned recognition and respect in the photography field. His works have been published in the world and have received numerous honors such as the Los Angeles Press Club’s 2013 Southern California Photojournalist of the Year(POY), Canada’s Photojournalism Photography Award Winner in Applied Arts Magazine Annual Contest 2007, Press Photographer Association of Greater Los Angeles’s Picture of the Year in 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2010, The Best Hong Kong News Photography in 1992, 1993 and 1994.
